back to asheboro saturday, a good day. Sent the usual problems and watched Cole send the rockstack project, after removing the rockstack.
First time this climb had been done without jumping off the rockstack, to my knowledge.

Went to Asheboro again on sat., weather was nice but we (Rodney and I) were practically alone. We tried to find some new rock, new problems, but found little. I did manage to do a new (to me) variation on the main boulder, a traverse across 3 exisitng problems. I called it "lightning hop" as it incorperates parts of lightning bolt crack and ihop. It starts low and right of lightning bolt and finishes up ihop, just left of the tree. Here's Mike Dean on lightning bolt a few years ago.

my retro-bott

A year or so ago I bought a "campagnolo bicycle" from a woman in north raleigh, she had advertised it on craigslist. It wasn't a campagnolo bike, but it did have all campy parts. The rear derailleur is patent dated 1973. I never could determine the make of the frame. Since it was too large for me, and seemed to have internal rust issues, I traded it for a mid 80s ciocc frame that fit me. Since the paint was kinda flakey, I had it powdercoated, which looked great but revealed some metal pitting under the top tube. So I bailed on that frame (sold it on craigslist). All this time I slowly cleaned up all the campy parts. I finally won another mid 80s frame on ebay, a bottecchia. Rather than build up wheels using the suspect drilled out campy rear hub, I bought a complete used (early 90s?) campy chorus wheelset off craigslist, and to make the whole thing work, got a campy veloce bottom bracket at cycle logic. Finally built it up and now run it as an alternate urban bike (opposite my rush hour pro)

day 1

Had morning times blend this morning, I think it's from counter culture coffee in durham. It's good and strong. Rode my retro-bott into work, a nice commute. I can take a paved greenway more than half of the way, mostly quiet roads the rest, the exception is old garner rd. - but it's not that bad. Drank tap water throughout the day, as our filter is currently busted. It tastes "okay". Rode into town at 3, refueled at morning times, stopped at cyclelogic for a bit, then went to capitol city grocery for BEER. Got some tasgal ale by highland brewing, which is very tasty, and some butte creek revolution XI imperial pale ale, I haven't tried it yet. Rode home as it turned dark. Some old woman about right-hooked me but I saw it coming. She didn't have a clue as usual. Got home right at dark, good ride.
